Memoir Writing Class with Lisa Michaels: December 5 - January 23
Memoir Writing Class
with Lisa Michaels
Do you have stories you have always wanted to tell? Are you in love with language? Maybe you are a lifelong reader who has a dream of being a published writer, but never had the right support and structure to try.
If that sounds intriguing, join me for a six week memoir writing class at Dragonfly Farm, a chance to get inspired and connect with other writers!
I will show you how to craft a 2-3 page personal narrative you might use as your biographical statement for a business or send out for publication.
We will read short excerpts from personal essays and memoirs. Do brainstorming exercises to help identify our most important stories. Complete fifteen-minute writing sprints, with prompts to spark ideas, so we make progress in every session. And share our work in a warm, supportive environment.
Lisa Michaels is the author of Split: A Counterculture Childhood, a memoir about growing up the child of sixties hippies and radicals. Her novel, Grand Ambition, is based on Glen and Bessie Hyde, a pair of newlyweds who tried to raft down the Grand Canyon in 1928 and disappeared. Lisa’s personal essays have been published in House Beautiful, the New York Times Magazine, and Salon.com.
